Mr. Sajjan Jindal inaugurates captive solar power plant at MPIL factory - Mumbai, January 17, 2012

Mr. Sajjan Jindal – Chairperson and Managing Director of JSW Steel Ltd. inaugurated captive solar power plant at MPIL Tarapur factory.

As MPIL is the first company in India to install solar panels on factory rooftop, Mr. Jindal expressed keen interest in knowing about S.M.A.R.T (Solar Mounted Advanced Renewable Technology) pre engineered buildings.

An actual demonstration of this energy efficient solution with elaborate discussion was explained to Mr. Jindal.

Mr. Jindal appreciated MPIL’s endeavor towards renewable energy and also the eco friendly measures adopted by its LEED GOLD certified factory.

MPIL Solar Solutions (MSS), a division of MPIL Steel Structures Ltd, combines MPIL’s expertise in designing, fabricating, and commissioning PEBs with Steinbeis Institute (Germany) certified photovoltaic system designers to bring a comprehensive solar captive power solution to its existing and new customers. MSS has pioneered the S.M.A.R.T (Solar Mounted Advanced Rooftop Technology) building concept that enables any PEB structure to become solar powered.

In order to demonstrate the concept, MSS has installed a 21KW rated solar captive power plant on its factory rooftop in Tarapur that has already produced 800 kWh of energy in less than a month. MSS now offers the learning and experience from this installation to provide a seamless solar power generation experience to its customers.
